Domaine Guillot-Broux, Mâcon
Guillot-Broux established the first organic vineyards in Burgundy in 1954, with certification from 1991. The domaine is now run by brothers Emmanuel and Patrice, with 17ha of vineyard holdings in Macon-Cruzille, Grevilly and Chardonnay.
Most of the vineyards are on east-facing slopes on clay/limestone soils planted at high density, which are all vinified separately but only the best are selected for the single vineyard cuvées. These wines have the richness you would expect from the Macon but also an elegance and minerality that would more typically be associated with the whites from the Cote de Beaune.
"As I've written before, it took me a few years to understand the wines of Domaine Guillot-Broux. These are tightly wound, concentrated whites, framed by chalky dry extract from low yields and intelligent pressing, and they take their time to evolve in the cellar. That's a far cry from the stereotype of the northern Maconnais—honeyed, facile, giving—but when you visit the vineyards, you understand. Rocky, sloping, enclosed sites at the forest's edge—some recently recovered from its encroachments and they've never seen chemical farming. Of course, opening old bottles also helps make sense of these wines: complex, mineral and sapid, it's clear that 20 years is the minimum rather than the maximum at this address. Chardonnay VdF is produced under the ‘Maison’ label and is organic fruit sourced from the Languedoc; ‘En Serre’ is a 2.7ha plot on steep slopes with deep soils; ‘Les Genevrieres’ is a particular favourite with a great old-school label, very rich and full of umami, located high on a steep east-facing hill; ‘Le Repostere’ is also purchased fruit and is a fresh, tropical style of Pouilly-Fuisse - pineapple, passionfruit, mango; and finally Macon-Cruzille Rouge is 100% Gamay, tastes almost like a mix in style between Cru Beaujolais and Bourgogne Pinot Noir.

Les Genevrieres is a single-vineyard cuvee produced from a steep east-facing hill located between the villages of Cruzilles and Chardonnay. This has the most depth of all the cuvées we import, with an incredible umami richness.

Starting from 2021, Emmanuel Guillot-Broux has been buying organic Chardonnay from the Languedoc to create this fantastic Vin de France at his domaine in Cruzilles in the Macon. The owner of the vineyard is a friend who farms with the same attention to detail and organic principles as Emmanuel and his brother Patrice, and the result is a delicious unoaked Chardonnay that really delivers at this price point.

We've put together a mixed 6-pack of wines from Chablis, a great way to try a range of producers and styles. Vincent Dauvissat needs no introduction - the most famous winery in the region apart from perhaps Raveneau; Savary is a wine we've been importing for a couple of years, a family domaine doing great work - 2023 was a warm vintage so the wines are quite ripe, Hommage is from some of their best plots to the north of the village. Vocoret is a new-wave producer - the 'Bas de Chapelot' is produced from 40+ year old vines from a vineyard next door to a Premier Cru site.

The 15ha domaine is located just above the Nesque river at 200-300m altitude with north facing vineyards on unique sandy soils called Sables d’Unang. An incredibly historic property, which was originally gifted to the Bishop of Venasque in 867 by the King of Provence. Certified organic since 2013, the domaine is run by Scottish couple James and Joanna King. The reds are mostly Grenache, with some Syrah and Cinsault also grown, while the whites are produced from local varieties such as Clairette, Roussanne, Vermentino and Granache Blanc. Currently we are just importing one wine, but will be expanding from late Spring when the 2024s are bottled.

As far as we’re concerned, this is the best red wine ever made in the UK. More similar in style to Oregon or Central Otago than Burgundy, it’s a rich and concentrated style of Pinot Noir with soft tannins.
Estate grown from the Crouch Valley. Impressively full-bodied with a lovely reductive character and a healthy touch of oak. Great acidity and balance.
One of the newer and smaller productions of premium rosé coming out of Provence, produced at Chateau des Bertrands and run by an independent team based in Bournemouth. This is a delicious blend of Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah - drink it in the sun or on the slopes - a rosé for the whole year!
Rated by The Drinks Business as one of the top rosés on the market for £20-50, except with us it’s £19 a bottle!
A blend of Furmint and Harslevelu from Tokaji in Eastern Hungary. Tropical, richly flavoured, almost has a Riesling-like texture but without quite the same level of acidity.

100% Tempranillo from vines located at 840-900 metres above sea level, with yields of 35 hl/ha. Aged for two and a half years in barrels of different origins:
