Etienne Sauzet

Established in the 1920s, this small domaine is now considered one of the most prominent in Puligny-Montrachet, producing a range of intensely flavoured, sometimes reductive whites of incredible quality. This is one of our favourites in the region and we’re pleased to offer good stocks from the range, from village to premier cru.

Etienne Sauzet, Bourgogne Aligoté 2023
£198.00

A delicate, fresh wine that is a counterpoint to the Bourgogne Chardonnay, unoaked with a focus on citrus fruits, minerality and some floral aromatics. Very good for the price.

Etienne Sauzet, Bourgogne Haute Cotes de Beaune "Jardins du Calvaire" 2023 (6-pack)
£240.00

From a high-altitude vineyard in Nantoux, planted at 400m.

Burghound: “An unusually ripe nose, at least for the Hautes Côtes offers up smoky notes of both white and yellow peach. There is once again very good energy, if limited mid-palate density, to the lightly stony flavors that exhibit a touch of youthful austere on the ever-so-mildly firmer finale. This too could be enjoyed young for the fruit or held for 2 to 3 years first.”

Etienne Sauzet, Bourgogne Chardonnay 2023 (6-pack)
£198.00

Burghound: “Aged half in wood, half in steel with only <10% of the portion in wood being new - from Puligny vines. A slightly riper mix features notes of pear, apple and lemon zest. The sleek, delicious and nicely textured flavors possess reasonable vibrancy while delivering good length on the equally clean and dry finale. This could use better depth so a year or two of keeping should help.”

Chateau Unang, Ventoux 2022 (6-pack)
£114.00

The 15ha domaine is located just above the Nesque river at 200-300m altitude with north facing vineyards on unique sandy soils called Sables d’Unang. An incredibly historic property, which was originally gifted to the Bishop of Venasque in 867 by the King of Provence. Certified organic since 2013, the domaine is run by Scottish couple James and Joanna King. The reds are mostly Grenache, with some Syrah and Cinsault also grown, while the whites are produced from local varieties such as Clairette, Roussanne, Vermentino and Granache Blanc. Currently we are just importing one wine, but will be expanding from late Spring when the 2024s are bottled.

Guillot-Broux, Mixed Macon (6-pack)
£160.00

This case contains: 2x Chardonnay Vin de France 2023 / 1x Macon ‘La Serre’ 2024 / 1x Macon-Cruzilles Rouge 2023 / 1x Pouilly-Fuisse ‘Le Repostere’ 2023 / 1x Macon ‘Les Genevrieres’ 2023

Guillot-Broux established the first organic vineyard in Burgundy in 1954, with certification from 1991. The domaine is now run by brothers Emmanuel and Patrice, with 17ha of vineyard holdings in Macon-Cruzille, Grevilly and Chardonnay. Most of the vineyards are on east-facing slopes on clay/limestone soils planted at high density, which are all vinified separately but only the best are selected for the single vineyard cuvees. These wines have the richness you would expect from the Macon but also an elegance and minerality that would more typically be associated with the whites from the Cote de Beaune. The Chardonnay VdF is produced under the ‘Maison’ label and is organic fruit sourced from the Languedoc; ‘En Serre’ is a 2.7ha plot on steep slopes with deep soils; ‘Les Genevrieres’ is a particular favourite with a great old-school label, very rich and full of umami; ‘Le Repostere’ is also purchased fruit and is a fresh, tropical style of Pouilly-Fuisse; and the Macon-Cruzille Rouge is 100% Gamay, tastes almost like a mix in style between Cru Beaujolais and Bourgogne Pinot Noir.

Gran Reserva de 2 Racimos: “Deep ruby to the eye, this wine has a nose of black cherry, baking spices, dried thyme and a hint of cedar. It offers incredible depth of flavor, with layers of dark and red berries, bittersweet chocolate, butterscotch, aniseed, violet and sage leaf flavors. Opulent tannins settle in and linger, while well-integrated acidity offers a touch of brightness on the chocolate-covered-cherry finish. Drink through 2045.” 98 points, Wine Enthusiast

Danbury Ridge, Pinot Noir 2023 (6-pack)

As far as we’re concerned, this is the best red wine ever made in the UK. More similar in style to Oregon or Central Otago than Burgundy, it’s a rich and concentrated style of Pinot Noir with soft tannins.

Danbury Ridge, Chardonnay 2023 (6-pack)
£234.00

Estate grown from the Crouch Valley. Impressively full-bodied with a lovely reductive character and a healthy touch of oak. Great acidity and balance.
